As the fall season of 2024 kicks off, anime fans are gearing up for another round of exciting simulcasts, and this year promises to be especially thrilling. Among the plethora of new shows hitting the screens, some returning favorites are poised to steal the spotlight. For viewers looking to dive back into worlds they’ve already come to love, the fall 2024 season offers plenty of reasons to get excited.

In this article, we’ll highlight four of the most anticipated returning anime simulcasts that are guaranteed to keep fans on the edge of their seats. Whether you’ve been waiting eagerly for months or are just now catching up, here’s everything you need to know about the biggest returning titles this fall season. Get ready to mark your calendars!

1. BLUE LOCK - Season 2

First on our list this fall is Season 2 of BLUE LOCK which will premiere on October 5, 2024 and run for 14 episodes. Die-hard sports genre fans can likely look forward to the anime picking up where season 1 left off with the continuation of the third selection and U20 match.

For new viewers looking to possibly binge the series, BLUE LOCK is impressively accurate when it comes to the tactics, game preparation, and in-game decision-making of soccer (or football for our international readers) while still maintaining a balance of magical realism where characters have unique abilities to boost their game skills— reflecting how real-life footballers each possess distinct traits that set them apart on the field.

  • Premiere: October 5, 2024
  • Simulcast schedule: Saturdays, 9:00 AM PST
  • Where to watch for US viewers: Hulu (S1), Crunchyroll (S1/2)

2. Tower of God - Season 2

Next up is Season 2 of the coveted manhwa, Tower of God! Shifting focus away from the main cast we grew to love (or hate) in Season 1, Season 2 of Tower of God will instead debut and focus on a new protagonist, Ja Wangnan, and his journey up the perilous tower.

Returning viewers can expect a lot of the same mystery and intrigue that captivated them in the first place in Season 1 as new characters and their backstories are introduced. Touted as one of the best and most well thought-out universes in manhwa, Tower of God paved the way for similar series to grace our screens with anime adaptations, and we will continue anxiously watching with the same high expectations.

  • Premiere: July 7, 2024
  • Simulcast schedule: Sundays, 7:00 AM PST
  • Where to watch for US viewers: Amazon Prime Video (S1/2), Crunchyroll (S1/2)

3. Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World - Season 3

Third up on our list (and the one I am most personally excited about) is Season 3 of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. At the end of Season 2, our beloved protagonist and hopeless romantic, Natsuki Subaru, had just defeated the Great Rabbit with the help of his newfound comrades while best-girl Emilia just overcame the Last Trial and her formerly uncertain future.

It’s been a long almost three years of waiting, and I cannot wait to see the fruits of Subaru’s efforts finally come to light. For returning viewers, it’s this otaku’s opinion that we can expect the first handful of episodes to gradually build up the tension and set the stage for the intense emotional and narrative payoff that’s sure to come as Subaru faces even greater challenges in his new journey as Emilia’s first knight.

  • Premiere: October 2, 2024 (90-minute Special Episode)
  • Simulcast schedule: Wednesdays, 7:30 AM PST
  • Where to watch for US viewers: Amazon Prime Video (S1/2/3), Crunchyroll (S1/2/3)

4. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? - Season 5

Last but not least on our list is Season 5 of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (or “DanMachi” for short). After Bell’s harrowing journey through the labyrinth with Ryuu where they defeated the terrifying Juggernaut and avenged the Astraea Familia, Bell both ranked up to Level 4 (fastest in Orario history?) and seems to have acquired a new secret (or not-so-secret-to-viewers) admirer per his heroic nature.

Now, our favorite Rabbit Foot’s adventure will continue in Season 5 with Bell and the Hestia Familia finally facing off with Freya and her fanatical familia’s devotion to fulfill their goddess’s every whim and desire, no matter the cost. Viewers can expect to see more world-building around their favorite characters, bloody battles with seemingly no end in sight for our hero, and most importantly, more ecchi comedy with Bell’s love life!

  • Premiere: October 3, 2024
  • Simulcast schedule: Thursdays, 6:00 AM PST
  • Where to watch for US viewers: Hulu (S1/2/3/4), HIDIVE (S1/2/3/4/5)

We hope you found this informational guide useful for organizing your watchlists this fall season, and are looking forward to another great season of anime. Whether you’re rejoining old favorites or diving into fresh plot twists, there’s no shortage of excitement ahead. So, grab your favorite snacks, get comfy, and enjoy the next chapters of these fan-favorite anime!
